Alvin holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of Melbourne and completed his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Leo Cussen Centre for Law in 2008.
Alvin practises primarily in commercial law, litigation, public law and criminal law.
Before joining Nevile & Co., Alvin worked for 8 years as a solicitor-advocate, appearing regularly in the Magistrates Court as a defence lawyer and prosecutor for various local city councils. Alvin’s list of achievements includes successfully defending clients facing serious criminal charges to a 100% success rate in his prosecutorial work for councils. Alvin also has a strong presence in VCAT, especially the Review and Regulation List, having appeared regularly for decision makers and applicants.
Given his strong criminal and litigation background, Alvin joined the Commercial Passenger Vehicle Commission (CPVV) as Manager Prosecution. In recognition of his contribution during the commercial vehicle (taxi, Uber, hire cars etc) industry reform, Alvin was promoted to the Managing Principal Lawyer role and formed part of the Senior Leadership Team responsible for providing high quality legal advice to the Commission on emerging risks and operational issues.
Alvin brings to Nevile & Co., his pragmatic and down-to earth approach. He is renowned for being a “good operator” who gets things done with little fuss. With his background as both a defence lawyer and prosecutor, Alvin is always able to see things from both sides of the coin and consistently surpass clients’ expectation by achieving the desired outcomes in an effective and efficient manner.
